Questions
Plain answers before anyone calls
If your question is not here, call our UK team on 020 0000 0000.
These include the questions the NHS suggests you ask before medical care abroad. Every clinic should answer them plainly.
The programme
Who is the programme for?
People of 45 and over who want to understand how they are ageing, in numbers, and plan the years ahead with a doctor. It may not suit anyone looking for a quick fix, or whose health needs close local care.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can make an enquiry yourself. We do encourage you to talk to your GP before you decide.
Who will I speak to first?
A member of our UK team, at a time you choose. The call takes about 20 minutes.
Who is the medical team, and what are their qualifications?
Dr Emre Güvercin leads the programme and makes every medical decision. His training and registration are set out in full.
About Dr GüvercinCan I ask the doctor questions before I commit?
Yes. You meet Dr Güvercin by video before any plan is made. You meet him again in person before anything takes place.
How the programme worksIs the consultation in English?
Yes. Dr Güvercin consults in English. [confirm]
Why does a surgeon lead the programme?
Dr Güvercin is a specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. In this programme he is the medical lead: he reviews your health and your measures, and decides with you what is appropriate.
About Dr GüvercinWhat happens if the programme is not right for me?
We tell you, and explain why. Where it helps, we suggest who else to talk to, starting with your GP.
Measurement
What do you measure, and why?
Strength, movement, endurance, memory and attention, and blood tests. Each measure is simple, well studied and easy to repeat.
About the assessmentDo you give a "biological age" score?
No. Different methods give different answers, and one score can mislead. We show you real measures and explain them plainly.
Will I see my results?
Yes. You receive a written report, and Dr Güvercin talks it through with you.
Why do you ask for blood tests before the consultation?
So that Dr Güvercin can see your recent health before he meets you. Your GP or any private laboratory can do them. Some tests can show a raised result when nothing is wrong. If a result needs attention, Dr Güvercin explains what it may mean, and may advise you to see your GP.
Cost and commitment
What does the programme cost?
Every plan is written for one person, so there is no price list. Your written plan shows the full price and what it includes before you commit to anything.
Is there a fee for the consultation?
We tell you before you book. [confirm]
When do I pay, and to whom?
Your written plan sets this out, including the deposit and cancellation terms.
Can I change my mind?
Yes. Every plan comes with time to think it over. Your plan also sets out the deposit and cancellation terms.
Travel
Do I have to travel to Istanbul?
Only if your plan includes time at the clinic. Your plan also sets out options that do not involve travel.
How long is the visit?
Usually three to four days. [confirm]
Your visit to IstanbulCan someone come with me?
Yes. Tell us when we plan your visit, and we arrange their travel and stay too. [confirm]
Will my travel insurance cover me?
Most travel insurance does not cover planned medical care abroad, so you may need specialist cover. Check with your insurer before you book.
